Chefchaouen: My Top Photography Tips

Chefchaouen is a popular day trip destination for people travelling around Morocco with a tour company, and therefore can get quite crowded around midday. For the best lighting, without those pesky shadows in the winding lanes of Chefchaouen, and also in an attempt to avoid the crowds aim to go out shooting either earlier in the day or much later.

There are so many pretty doors and magical streets to explore, with many opportunities for great lifestyle shots. Choose an outfit to contrast the blue and make your subject really pop out of the frame. Opt for a prime (or fixed) lens, which offers no zoom capability however has a wider range of depth of field options meaning you can choose to shoot photographs where the background is out of focus, great for Instagram.

With such beautiful blue hues all around the city, to get the best out of your photos I suggest using Adobe Lightroom. Work with one of your photos first to find the balance of colours, perhaps increasing the blue saturation or luminance to create bolder photos or adding haziness to give them a fairytale feel. When you’re happy with the effect save this as your Chefchaouen preset to make editing the rest of your photos quick and easy!
