About Us

Hi, we’re Laura & Rik! We have a penchant for travel, food and wine and live in London! We spend all our spare time exploring home and away, slowly dining, drinking, diving and discovering all the best spots along the way. We really hope that you get as much pleasure in reading about our adventures as we have had sharing them with you!

Where did The Travelling Stomach come from?

The Travelling Stomach was born from our love of travelling, food and photography. Originally an Instagram page we have built this website to share more detailed reviews, offering my top travel tips as well as a bespoke travel planning service. We want to showcase stunning destinations, exciting experiences and delicious meals around the world to a community of like-minded travellers.

Always planning our next trip abroad we’re constantly searching for inspiration both online and on Instagram. we love to share what we’ve discovered from our trips with others in the hope we can offer advice and inspire more people to travel to somewhere new. There’s a whole world to explore, each destination rich in its own culture and food, so why wait!

We’re also still exploring London (even after eight years of living here) visiting new restaurants and bars across the Capital. With several places opening weekly, London’s restaurant scene is constantly changing and we’re always keen to find a new favourite meal. We don’t claim to be food connoisseurs (although with the amount of meals out we consume we should be!) however we’re keen to share our honest thoughts on the various places we’ve been lucky enough to visit.

What inspired your love of travelling?

Laura of The Travelling Stomach

My first trip outside of the confines of Europe was aged 12 thanks to my mom’s thirst for a journey to somewhere without a swimming pool and all inclusive food. She took me on a cruise along the Nile to explore Egypt’s treasures and since then we have shared a love for discovering new places. We’ve travelled across four continents, sometimes together and sometimes apart (causing a little bit of rivalry!)

As I went on more adventures becoming a more experienced traveller with age I moved away from tour companies preferring to organise my own adventures and I’m so excited to now be able to help others do this with TTS Bespoke. Travelling in this way means you can immerse yourself more entirely in a destination meeting locals, eating at local restaurants and exploring less touristy areas.

I’ll never tire of travelling, there’s always somewhere new to explore! Even in cities I’ve visited numerous times there are still so many undiscovered gems to stumble upon. I would love to eventually visit everywhere in the world but as that’s a little ambitious for now I’ve composed my dream bucketlist.
