Being the largest aviation hub in South East Asia, the easiest way to get to Singapore is by plane with direct flights offered from major destinations worldwide. Changi airport is super efficient and only a 15 minute drive into the city centre making it easy to get around. With close connections to Malaysia you can opt to drive or catch a bus over the border, there are also ferries to/from Malaysian/Indonesian islands.
Outside of the well known hotel chains and of course the famous Raffles hotel, there are numerous lovely boutique hotels dotted across the city. For minimalist chic check into Lloyd’s Inn, colonial luxury at Villa Samadhi and Peranakan decor with a killer rooftop pool at Hotel Indigo in Katong. If you want to get out of Singapore escape to Pulau Joyo for a desert island retreat.
To experience true Singaporean cuisine head to the Hawker centres where you can pick up bargain meals and try lots of local dishes. For a more upmarket experience there are countless numbers of Michelin-starred and fine dining establishments specializing in worldwide menus. Artemis offers great Mediterranean cuisine with a view of the Marina, and head to Alma for an Asian twist on modern European dishes.
Singapore has a great nightlife and some fabulous bars you must check out, including popping to Raffles Long Bar for the classic Singapore Sling! Head up high for the highest urban brewery at LeVeL33, travel back to the 1920s at Atlas for a glass of bubbly or hideaway in Nutmeg & Clove, a speakeasy in Ann Siang Hill.
From the urban jungle of the city centre to the sprawling green spaces dotted around Singapore there’s plenty to see and do. Fun lovers should head to Sentosa island whereas nature lovers should venture North to the wildlife reserves. Meander through the old neighbourhoods of Little India and Katong to experience true Singaporean culture and you’ll find some awesome photospots on the way.
