Gardens by the Bay is one of the most popular attractions in Singapore, and also one of the most photogenic. With two cooled conservatories, over a million different plants and flowers and incredible Supertrees you can easily spend half a day here exploring the gardens. Every evening the Supertrees come alive with music and lights for a special show and you can see across to the glittering lights of the city. If you’re peckish there are even several restaurants located within the Gardens including Indochine with incredible views from the top of one of the famous Supertrees and delicious fine dining at Pollen located in the Flower Dome. You can read my Gardens by the Bay photography tips below and enjoy my top 20 photos from our day in the Gardens.

Gardens by the Bay: My Top Photography Tips
Gardens by the Bay is one of Singapore’s most popular attractions for visitors and locals alike so aim to get there nice and early to get shots without the crowds. You can pre-purchase your tickets to the two cooled conservatories online to save queueing on the day, and I would recommend heading to the Cloud Forest for when it opens as it’s more popular than the Flower Dome and way more Instagramable!
With lots of amazing landscapes to photograph and the incredible tall Supertrees to fit into your shot against the cityscape in the background my first Gardens by the Bay photography tip is to always carry a wide angle lens so you can get the shot you want. Set the f number on your camera relatively high to retain the details of the background, although you’ll want to lower this to get some great close ups of the beautiful flowers.
The Cloud Forest is misted every two hours to keep the atmosphere humid for the plants inside the dome which makes for awesome photos as the mist creates a mystical atmosphere. The mist from the Cloud Forest and the condensation caused by the changing temperatures from the cooled conservations to the outdoors tend to leave pesky water droplets on your lens so remember to bring a camera wipe to clean this off.
You’ll want to head up to the OCBC Skywalk and also explore the walkways within the Cloud Forest for incredible views. A camera strap is an absolute essential for your visit as you really don’t want to drop it over the edge – that would end up being an expensive day out!
The gardens are also amazing to visit at night, don’t miss the Garden Rhapsody light show which takes place in the Supertree Grove twice every evening. I would also recommend heading down the edge of Dragonfly Lake to shoot across at the Supertrees, Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore Flyer lit up in all their glory. Pack a tripod for the evening shots to ensure you get nice crisp photos as you’ll want a slower shutter speed to capture the awesome colours of the Supertrees.
